Roar Report Podcast

In the fall of 2022, Bluffton-Harrison Metropolitan School District launched a podcast. Currently a new episode is released each month. The goal is to use it as a tool to share important and exciting information with our students, parents, staff and the BHMSD community. It’s available on our BHMSD TV YouTube channel — embedded below — as well as on the Spotify and Google Podcasts apps.

The third episode of the BHMSD Roar Report Podcast for the 2023-2024 school year is the BHS Takeover Episode! Plus, don’t miss out as our mascot Tiger joins in on the fun at football and band practice.

On this episode of the BHMSD Roar Report Podcast, Superintendent Dr. Yates provides updates to start the new school year and visits with a BHS Class of 1976 alumna. Mrs. Frauhiger of the BHES PTO talks about the organization, then Mrs. Moser and Mrs. Linderwell provide updates on BHMSD preschool programming.

The first episode of the Roar Report Podcast for the 2023-2024 school year is here! Learn important details about the upcoming school year, including a registration preview and new campus traffic information, as well as hear about district grant funding. We also debut a monthly Alumni Spotlight, plus feature the Bluffton Athletic Boosters.
 

May 2023: In the final Roar Report of the 2022-23 school year, learn about the BHMS Academic Teams from their captains and the upcoming graduation ceremony from two junior class officers. Hear about our upcoming summer programming: Free lunches, summer school, summer childcare and Year 2 of summer camps. Then join Superintendent Dr. Yates as he drives a BHMSD bus for the first time!

April 2023: Learn about standardized testing at BHMSD, advocacy efforts by our administration and the upcoming middle school orientation day. Then take a look at our BHMS and BHS Student Council activities and join Superintendent Dr. Yates as he serves up lunch at BHES.

March 2023: The latest episode of the Roar Report is out now! Join Superintendent Dr. Yates as he teaches Junior Achievement at BHMS and Mrs. Alspaugh shares more about the programming in her classroom. Then take a walk around BHS with SRO Phil Kurut while he discusses his job with Dr. Yates. Mrs. Meitzler talks with Mr. Meyer and Mrs. Leas about the Comprehensive School Counseling Grant that BHMSD recently received. Finally, take a look at this week’s kindergarten registration event at BHES.

February 2023: Superintendent Dr. Yates meets with the assistant principals from each school to discuss their roles at BHMSD. Mrs. Mounsey provides information regarding the upcoming kindergarten registration events. Then join us at BHES as they take part in National Read Aloud Day. To wrap up, CTE Director Brittany Kloer gives a look into what CTE courses are all about.

January 2023: Superintendent Dr. Yates discusses BHMSD’s policies for inclement weather, and Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Meitzler discusses high ability programming offered at BHMSD. Mrs. Mishler shares information and data on our English Language Learner services. Mr. Amstutz, Miss Tonner, and Mr. Cook offer a look at the computer science and technology programming in our schools.Then join us as we take a visit to Mr. Powell's welding class at BHS.

December 2022: We feature important information about our preschool and childcare registration, as well as highlight our band and choir programs. Mr. Tony Garton drops by to talk about the legacy of the Buckets for Santa fundraising effort. Then we wrap up with a sneak peek at our upcoming website redesign project and by celebrating Mr. Amstutz as our Educator of the Year.

November 2022: Learn about College Go Week at Bluffton-Harrison Middle School with Mrs. Harter and Mrs. White and hear updates from Transportation Coordinator Kassandra Osborn. Plus, Mr. Brooks drops by to talk about the Cyber Tigers e-Sports team. And in a new feature this month, Superintendent Dr. Yates visits the elementary school’s Design and Innovation Studio so first graders could show him what they’ve been working on with Mr. Amstutz.

October 2022: We have a few special guests featured. Julie Thompson shares what it’s like to be a school board member and School Attorney Colin Andrews discusses changes to the school board election process. Communications Specialist Jessica Bricker talks about our ParentSquare launch and United Way of Wells County CEO Pamela Beckford shares information about this fall’s fundraising campaign. Plus, we celebrate our 2023 Indiana Teacher of the Year!

September 2022: Hear district updates from Superintendent Dr. Yates, learn about the free/reduced lunch applications from our Food Services Director Mrs. McCorkle, and hear from BHES Principal Mrs. Linderwell about the PTO. Also, hear from Indiana Teacher of the Year Top 10 finalist Mrs. Cocanower!
